Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a fundamental part of Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been practiced for nearly three thousand years. It involves the painless insertion of thin, sterile needles at specific points on the body to promote circulation and balance the flow of qi (energy or life force). According to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, pain, tension, illness, and other symptomatology are all a result of imbalance and disharmony in the body. Acupuncture is safe, gentle, relaxing, and promotes an overall sense of well-being in the body. Please note that acupuncture needles are different from hypodermic needles; they are single-use, disposable, small, hair-thin needles specifically created for acupuncture.

Acupuncture is an approved therapy for all FSA/HSA accounts. Our office is currently in network with United Health Care and Landmark for acupuncture services. For all other insurance carriers, an itemized superbill can be provided upon request for potential reimburstment from your health insurance carrier.

Acutonics® Sound Therapy

Acutonics® is a safe, gentle, yet powerful system of healing based in Chinese medicine utilizing the power of sound, vibration, and frequency to promote healing in the body. Calibrated medical-grade tuning forks are placed on or near the body at energy centers, acupuncture points, or along energetic  pathways in the body to promote healing, balancing and supporting the body's natural frequencies. Acutonics® is a wonderful option for children, animals, as well as adults, especially those who prefer not to work with needles.

Cupping

Cupping is a modality of healing in Traditional Chinese Medicine in which round glass cups are placed directly on the skin with heat, creating a suction. This helps to release impurities and toxins from the tissues and organs, relieve muscle tension and pain, decrease inflammation, enhance blood flow and promote circulation in the body.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a relaxing form of heat therapy in which the herb Mugwort (Artemesia vulgaris) is dried, ground up, and burned over specific acupuncture points on the body to warm the muscles, enhance immunity, support digestion, alleviate pain and tension, as well as a variety of other conditions.

Nutritional Counseling

Food and lifestyle are pillars of health that can easily be overlooked. Riena approaches food as medicine. Nutritional counseling provides an excellent opportunity to install healthy dietary habits that best utilize the natural healing properties of food to nourish the body.

Qi Gong

Qi Gong is a simple, yet powerful ancient healing practice from China that is over five thousand years old. Qi Gong involves gentle movement and sound vibration to promote energy, vitality, health, and well-being. Qi Gong, which translates as "energy cultivation," is a beneficial practice for people of all ages.

Reiki Energy Healing

Reiki is a beautiful form of energy healing, originally from Japan, that promotes an overall sense of peace, harmony, and well-being. There is no touch involved, as the practitioner holds her hands above the client (who remains clothed). Reiki healing can be performed in person, as well as long distance (in cases where people are unable to travel, undergoing hospitalization, recovering from surgery, have busy schedules, etc). Reiki healing sessions are gentle, safe, relaxing and appropriate for people of all ages, as well as animals.

Sound Healing Therapy

Sound is medicine and can positively impact our physiology and health. Sound has the ability to relax and calm the nervous system, promoting a healing response in the body. Sound healing therapy is safe, effective, and suitable for people of all ages. Some examples of sound tools that may be used in healing sessions include Sanskrit and Tibetan mantras, Tibetan bells, koshi chimes, drums, harmonium, rainstick, shamanic rattles, singing bowls, and tuning forks.
